The Serpent – Mayan Glyph of Duality

by mikonmark on November 29, 2009

Mayan calender symbol for snake or serpent, Chicchan (pronounced cheek chan). The serpent represents God’s gift for our instinct to survive.  It also symbolizes the duality of that nature.  On the darkside, it is survival at the cost of others by creating resentment and division.  In goodness, it brings justice and service to the benefit of all.  Where does your serpent live?

This is one of twenty Mayan Solar symbols of their celestial calender.  Which one resonates with you?
